About MiniAnt Games

A portal of browser games at miniant.games, and a place for other developers to publish onto.

What this site is

MiniAnt Games is a games portal you play in a browser tab. You pick a game, it loads, you play. There is no download, no installer, and no separate account with a console or a store in the middle of it. That is the whole idea, and every decision below follows from it.

The catalog is a mix of games we build ourselves and games other developers publish onto the portal through publish.miniant.games. Both kinds sit side by side in the same catalog and are held to the same rules: they load fast, they work on a mid-range phone, and they never ask you to leave the site to finish what you started.

What you can do here

Play instantly

Every game runs in the browser tab you already have open. Nothing to install, no store account, no launcher.

Play against people

Many games have online modes against friends or a matched opponent, with a live view of the match rather than a result screen at the end.

Compete

Weekly leaderboards and tournaments, ranked from sessions the portal itself witnessed, so a score means someone actually played it.

Watch a match

Spectate a friend's game as it happens, with a spectator-only chat channel. Watching a match costs 2 Tickets.

You do not need an account to start

You can play as a guest, straight away: we count 3 free sessions per device per day and ask for nothing in return. Guests have no wallet and no saved profile, which is a deliberate limit rather than a nag — there is nowhere for us to keep progress that belongs to nobody.

Making an account takes an email address and a six-digit code, or a Google or Discord sign-in. That is what unlocks saved progress, a Tickets wallet, a profile other players can see, and a place on the leaderboards. The minimum age to play here is 13; the site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under that age.

Tickets, and what they are not

Tickets are the site's virtual currency. They pay the entry fee on a round, buy cosmetics, and enter tournaments, whose pools pay 80% of the entries back out as virtual prizes. You earn them by playing and you can buy more.

What Tickets are not: money. They have no cash value, there is no cash-out path, and the only way to move one to another player is by gifting a cosmetic on the site. We say that here as plainly as the Terms do, because a virtual currency that is vague about this is a virtual currency that is misleading someone.

How the site pays for itself

Free-to-play has to be paid for by something, and we would rather you knew by which. Three things fund this site, and none of them is selling your data:

  • Advertising. Ads run between games and as rewarded ads you choose to watch for a benefit. You never see one in your first session on the site. Google is the ad network.
  • Ticket purchases. Optional, for players who want to play more rounds or buy cosmetics than they earn.
  • MiniAnt Plus and the Season Pass. A subscription and a pass; Plus removes interstitial ads for the people who would rather pay than watch.

We do not sell personal data, to anyone, and we do not run cross-site ad tracking of our own. The full detail of what we collect and who touches it is in the Privacy Policy, written as a description of what the code does rather than as a list of permissions we would like.

For developers

If you build browser games, you can publish onto MiniAnt. You pitch an idea on the developer portal at publish.miniant.games, and once it is accepted you connect a repository, integrate our SDK against a public developer guide, and publish. From there you track each game's build status and earnings from your own dashboard.

Every game runs inside a sandboxed frame served from a separate origin from the portal itself. That is a boundary in both directions: a game cannot reach into your MiniAnt account, and the portal cannot reach into a developer's game.

There is more about the pipeline on our Publish Your Game page.

Who runs it

miniant.games is operated by Miniant Labs Limited, a company in Bangladesh. We are a small team, which is why you will find us saying plainly which things are handled by hand rather than pretending to be bigger than we are: account deletion and data export, for instance, are done by a person answering an email, and the Privacy Policy says so instead of implying a button that does not exist yet.

Talk to us

Questions, bugs, a game that will not load, or anything else: our Contact page lists which address reaches which part of the team. Support is at support@miniant.games, and privacy requests go to privacy@miniant.games. A person reads both.
